new york central art supply
one of my favorite art supply stores. they're a little expensive, and don't have so many sales as other larger chains. but i love the creaking floorboards, the cozy size, the paper department upstairs and the canvas department downstairs. if you're lucky, you might even get to meet steven there.
i drew this during my lunch hour from across the street in m&m market, after stopping by to get some masters synthetic round watercolor brushes and a few half-pans of schmincke paints. many of the staff there are artists themselves, and happy to help. there are, of course, some duds with holier-than-thou attitudes, but if you go often enough -- like i do, shut up, i don't wanna help it -- you know who to walk up to for help.
the woman in front showed up just as i was drawing the storefront window. she looks almost ghost-like, no? she was wearing white but i had no white-out or white paint on me. ah well.
materials:
pitt artist pens in a moleskine pocket sketchbook.
